CHEMinistry Leadership Policy

(Rev. 6/30/23)

The CHEMinistry BOARD OF DIRECTORS (BOD) are required to personally affirm the CHEMinistry Statement of Faith AND agree to uphold the Membership Policies

The following Leadership Policy will be in place for the 2024-25 membership year.

Because of the varied denominational involvement, we require anyone in a non-BOD LEADERSHIP ROLE in CHEMinistry, such as teachers, coaches, administrators, mentors, group leaders, etc. (as indicated in the table) to agree to one of the following:

  • Option 1: Affirm the CHEMinistry Statement of Faith AND agree to uphold the Membership Policies

OR

  • Option 2: Acknowledge the CHEMinistry Statement of Faith AND affirm the Nicene Creed AND agree to uphold the Membership Policies

Acknowledge versus Affirm:

  • Acknowledge: to recognize the rights, authority, or status of; to take notice of.

  • Affirm: to show or express a strong belief in or dedication to (something, such as an important idea).

CHEMinistry Statement of Faith

  • We believe the Holy Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the very inspired Word of God. The Bible is without error, true, authoritative, and sufficient.

    • (Deuteronomy 12:32; John 1:1-4; Psalm 19:7-11; 2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 1:1-3; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 1 Thessalonians 2:13)

  • We believe there is only one true God, Creator of heaven and earth, who eternally exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    • (Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalm 148; Isaiah 45:5-6; Matthew 3:13-17; Romans 11:33-36; 1 Corinthians 8:4-6; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6; Colossians 1:15-20; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; Hebrews 1:1-3; 1 Peter 3:18, Isaiah 46:9-10)

  • We believe that all things exist for the glory of God and that all humanity, Christ excluded, is sinful by both birth and action.

    • (Psalm 51:5; Jeremiah 17:9; Isaiah 46:9-10; Romans 5:12; Romans 7:18; 1 Corinthians 10:31; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:3-14; Hebrews 1:1-3; James 1:14-15)

  • We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, was born of a virgin, and is both fully God and fully human, and that he died as the sacrificial substitute to pay the penalty for sin.

    • (Matthew 1:20; Matthew 3:13-17; Luke 2:52; John 1:1-4; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:21-26; Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 1:4; Ephesians 1:3-14; Colossians 1:15-20; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; Hebrews 1:1-3; Hebrews 9:28; 1 Peter 3:18)

  • We believe Jesus Christ physically rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will one day physically return.

    • (Matthew 28:1-20; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24:1-53; John 20-21:25; Acts 1:11; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 1 Corinthians 15:12-34; 2 Corinthians 5:15; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; Hebrews 1:1-3; Hebrews 9:28; Revelation 1:7)

  • We believe God perfectly created men and women equal before God as persons, and established their identities as distinct and complementary in their manhood and womanhood. For our good and His glory, God created marriage as the original and foundational institution of human society, established by God as a one-flesh, covenantal union between one man and one woman that is life-long, exclusive, and generative in nature.

    • (Genesis 1:26-28; Genesis 2:15-18, 21-24; Malachi 2:14-15; Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:5-9; Ephesians 5:22-33; Hebrews 13:4)

  • We believe there will be a future physical resurrection of the dead and only those who turn from sin and to Jesus in faith and repentance will be raised to eternal reward.

    • (Genesis 3:19; Matthew 25:31-46; Acts 4:12; Acts 24:15; Romans 3:21-26; Romans 6:23; 1 Corinthians 15:12-34; Ephesians 1:3-14; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; Hebrews 9:28; 1 John 3:2)

  • We believe those who do not turn from sin and to Jesus will be raised to eternal punishment.

    • (Genesis 6:5; Proverbs 16:4; Matthew 25:31-46; Acts 4:12; Acts 24:15; Romans 5:12; Romans 6:23; 1 Corinthians 15:12-34; Ephesians 2:1-3; James 1:14-15)

  • We believe only through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ and repentance from sin can one be reconciled to God and experience true life and joy.

    • (Psalm 19:7-11; Psalm 45:6-7; Psalm 148; Isaiah 61:3; John 5:24; John 15:11; Acts 4:12; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:21-26; Romans 12-21)

The Nicene Creed (589 A.D.)

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with Father; by whom all things were made; who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried; and the third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father; and he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and giver of life, who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spake by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead; and the life of the world to come. Amen.
